Bandits set Zamfara Assembly Speaker’s house, others ablaze

The home of Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasiru Muazu Magarya, in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state, has been set ablaze by rampaging bandits.

The incident was confirmed by the Chairman of the state Assembly Committee on Security and Prosecution of Bandits, Abdullahi Shinkafi.

Shinkafi, told newsmen on Monday that the bandits also set several other buildings in the area on fire.

According to him, the criminals resorted to attacking soft targets after military onslaught on their various hideouts scattered and unsettled them.

During his visit to the affected communities in the area, Shinkafi assured the victims that the state government would support them, adding that more security personnel would be deployed to protect them from bandits’ attacks.

Shinkafi, meanwhile, noted that two persons, suspected to be suppliers of foodstuffs, petrol, and other commodities to the bandits, were apprehended and handed over to the police
