Bandits Strike Again: Miyetti Allah Chairman Killed, Family Members Kidnapped in Katsina

In a devastating attack, suspected bandits have killed the Katsina State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Surajo Ahmed, and kidnapped his two wives and daughter.

The incident occurred on Sunday at 10 pm in the Mai Rana community, Kusada Local Government Area of Katsina State. According to MACBAN National President, Alhaji Baba Usman Ngelzarma, the association has contacted the police and other security agencies to investigate the matter and ensure the release of the kidnap victims.

The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents targeting Fulani communities in the region. Last year, a coalition of Fulani groups in Plateau State reported losing 350 members between October 2023 and January 2024, as well as 834 cows, due to attacks by unknown gunmen. The groups also claimed that over 115 villages were razed, resulting in the destruction of properties and food items worth billions of naira.

The Katsina State Police Command has yet to comment on the incident, as the Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, did not respond to calls or messages. The attack has raised concerns about the growing insecurity in the region and the need for increased security measures to protect lives and property. The incident is a tragic reminder of the ongoing violence and instability in the region, and the need for urgent action to address the root causes of the conflict.
