This outrageous demand has been accompanied by threats of violence, forcing many residents to abandon their homes and flee in fear. The villages affected include _Gijinzama_, which has been slapped with a ₦8.5 million levy, _Dakolo_, which must pay ₦5 million plus 20 bags of soybeans, and _Kunchin Kalgo_, which faces a whopping ₦20 million demand.
Other villages, such as _Sungawa_ and _Rakyabu_, have been ordered to pay ₦15 million each, while _Kwaren Maisaje_ and _Magazawa_ must each cough up ₦10 million. The situation is dire, with hundreds of residents fleeing their homes, farmland, and livelihoods to escape the bandits’ brutal attacks.
Despite improved security in some areas, the rural villages of Tsafe West remain vulnerable, and the people are crying out for urgent intervention from the Nigerian authorities. They need more security personnel and permanent posts to be established in the area to protect them from these marauding bandits. The displaced residents also require emergency relief to help them survive this ordeal.
