Barau Commends Tinubu for Peaceful APC Primaries, Says Consensus Strengthens Party Unity

Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership in ensuring peaceful and orderly All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries across the country.

Barau, who emerged as the consensus candidate for Kano North Senatorial District, made the commendation on Wednesday while speaking with journalists upon his return to Abuja from Kano.

He described the smooth conduct of the primaries as a direct reflection of President Tinubu’s commitment to internal democracy, party cohesion, and strategic political leadership.

“The credit goes to Mr President, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and leader of the APC, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Barau said.

He noted that the adoption of consensus arrangements in several states has significantly reduced tensions and minimised conflicts among party members ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Consensus is based on the premise of encouraging party unity and creating a good atmosphere for the emergence of candidates so that by the time we go into the general elections, there will not be much problem,” he added.

The Deputy Senate President attributed the growing stability within the APC to Tinubu’s vast political experience and deep understanding of grassroots politics. He praised governors and other key stakeholders for aligning with the President’s reconciliation and unity efforts.

Barau also singled out the Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, for his instrumental role in fostering understanding and harmony among party members nationwide.

Expressing optimism, the Deputy Senate President said the peaceful primaries would further strengthen the APC, enhance its unity, and position the party strongly for improved performance in the upcoming elections.

The development comes as the APC continues its nationwide primary elections to select candidates for various positions ahead of the 2027 polls.
