Barr Chafari Commiserates with Victims Amid Yola Flood Disaster

In the wake of the devastating flood that ravaged Yola, Adamawa State, Barr Chafari Shadrach Kanya, Director General of the West African Gas Pipeline Authority (WAGPA) and renowned philanthropist, has expressed deep sympathy for the victims of the disaster.

The flood, triggered by a relentless downpour on Sunday, July 27, 2025, destroyed farmlands, homes, and properties worth billions of Naira, leaving hundreds homeless and forcing many to seek refuge in neighboring communities as internally displaced persons (IDPs).

In a heartfelt statement, Barr Chafari extended condolences to residents of the hardest-hit areas, including Sabon Pegi, Yulde Pate, Lakare, Shagari, and Modire. “You are not alone in this difficult moment of disaster,” she assured, offering words of comfort to the affected communities.

The flood, which claimed 23 lives and destroyed critical infrastructure, has left the affected areas in dire need of urgent intervention.

The people of Yola are now faced with the daunting task of rebuilding their lives amidst the devastation. Barr Chafari’s message of sympathy and solidarity comes as a source of solace to the victims during this trying time.
