Barr. Jamila Babuba Takes the Helm as FIDA Inaugurates New Leadership for Adamawa State Chapter

In a momentous ceremony held today at FIDA House, Barr. Jamila Babuba was officially inaugurated as the Chairperson of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, Adamawa State Branch. The event attracted distinguished guests, esteemed colleagues, and advocates for women’s rights, all gathered to witness a new chapter in the organization’s ongoing mission.

In her inaugural address, Barr. Babuba expressed profound gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility as she accepted the prestigious role. “I am honored to lead an organization that has consistently championed the rights of women, children, and the vulnerable in our society,” she stated, acknowledging the hard work of her predecessors and the trust placed in her by her colleagues.

FIDA Nigeria, Adamawa State chapter under Babuba’s leadership, aims to reinforce its commitment to justice, equality, and the protection of human rights. She outlined several key priorities for her tenure, emphasizing the importance of strengthening access to justice for marginalized groups. “We will work tirelessly to ensure that women, children, and the less privileged have access to legal representation, protection, and support,” she declared, pledging to expand legal aid services to underserved communities.

Barr. Babuba also spotlighted the urgent need to combat gender-based violence, a persistent issue that remains at the forefront of FIDA’s mission. “We will intensify our advocacy efforts,” she asserted, vowing to collaborate with stakeholders and push for the full implementation of protective laws.

In addition to advocacy, the newly elected chairperson highlighted plans for capacity building and public awareness initiatives. “Knowledge is power,” she stated, announcing the launch of legal literacy programs and community engagements designed to empower women and young girls with essential knowledge about their rights.

Barr. Babuba also called on all members of FIDA Adamawa, legal practitioners, policymakers, and development partners to join hands with her team in advancing their cause. She emphasized the need for collective action to drive meaningful change and ensure that justice is not just a privilege for the few but a right for all. With her leadership, FIDA Adamawa is poised to make significant strides in promoting justice, equality, and human rights in the state.
