Barr. Shuaibu Leads Adamawa APC in Tribute to Late President Buhari, Remembers Him as In-Law, Moral Compass

The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by State Chairman Barr. Idris Shuaibu, paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State, following his passing on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82 in a London clinic.

The entourage arrived at the Buhari family compound around 2:00 PM, where they were warmly received by former First Lady Mrs. Aisha Buhari, her son Yusuf Buhari, his siblings, Mrs. Buhari’s younger brother Dr. Modi Halilu, and other family members.

In an emotional address, Barr. Shuaibu emphasized the profound sense of loss felt by the people of Adamawa State, noting that, apart from Katsina, no state in Nigeria mourned the former president as deeply.

He highlighted the unique connection between Adamawa and the late president, stating, “The former First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, hails from Adamawa State, making President Buhari not only our leader, role model, and moral compass but also our cherished in-law.”

Shuaibu praised Buhari’s legacy of integrity, discipline, and patriotism, describing him as an iconic figure whose contributions to Nigeria’s democratic journey and fight against corruption would remain unforgettable.

The visit, part of a series of condolence gestures by political leaders across Nigeria, underscored Buhari’s enduring impact as a military head of state (1983–1985) and democratically elected president (2015–2023).

The Adamawa APC delegation joined thousands of sympathizers who have thronged the Buhari residence in Daura since his burial on July 15, 2025, in a solemn Islamic ceremony attended by dignitaries, including President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The atmosphere in Daura remains somber as the nation continues to honor the late statesman during a seven-day national mourning period, with flags flying at half-mast nationwide.
