Bauchi state government has announced subsidy on fertilizer and other farming inputs as part of its efforts to boost agricultural activities and guarantee food security in the state.
The Governor of the state, Senator Bala Mohammed made this known while launching the 2025 rainfed farming season and sells of fertilizer in Gajin Duguri, Alkaleri local government area.

According to him, his administration is unveiling key initiatives to boost food security, empower farmers, and position Bauchi as a major food-producing state.
“We have commenced the sale of subsidized NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer at N20,000 per bag, produced locally through our state blending plant”, the governor said.
Bala Mohammed added that, in his administration’s effort to support mechanized farming, tractors will be distributed across all 20 LGAs.
He added that 1,000 trained youths will receive financial support to start their own farms.

The governor further said in order to encourage wider participation, civil servants on Grade Level 12 and below will now enjoy two days of farming leave weekly.

Governor Mohammed also appreciated the support given to his administration from the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), the Ministry of Agriculture, and traditional leaders in the state, especially the Emir of Dass, saying, “together, we will make Bauchi the food basket of the nation.
He encouraged civil servants to take advantage of his administration’s agricultural development initiatives aimed at boosting productivity and boosting economic growth.
Highlighting the potential of cassava farming in the state, Governor Mohammed urged the Federal Government and other states to take advantage of the economic opportunities in large-scale cassava production.
In a remarks, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Iliyasu Aliyu Gital represented by the Commissioner for Livestock Development, Dr. Bala Musa Lukshi disclosed that the ministry is working under the governor’s directive to tackle the issue of adulterated seeds and other fake farming inputs.
