Bauchi State Prioritizes Community Radios for Enhanced Communication

Bauchi State Information and Communication Commissioner, Usman Shehu Usman, has announced that the second phase of the Bauchi Broadcasting Corporation (BRC) project will soon commence. This phase involves establishing community radios in local government areas currently lacking them, including Darazo, Shira Warji, Giade, Dambam, Dass, and Bauchi.

According to Usman, the project aims to provide each of the 20 local government areas with its own community radio station. This initiative will overhaul maintenance procedures, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in all community radios, not just AM and FM stations.

“The execution of phase two of the project will ensure that every local government area in Bauchi State has its own community radio station,” Usman explained. “This will enable us to disseminate information effectively and efficiently to all parts of the state.”

Usman also discussed the digitalization of BRC and Bauchi State Television (BATV) equipment, emphasizing Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s priority on urgent digitalization.

“The governor has emphasized that the digitalization of BRC and BATV must be done urgently,” Usman said. “We are working tirelessly to ensure that this project is completed as soon as possible.”

Additionally, Usman addressed employment issues, noting that the state government is actively hiring citizens for various positions across different ministries and agencies.

“The issue of employment is not only limited to BRC, but it is a challenge that affects all ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) in the state,” Usman explained. “However, I am pleased to announce that the state government is already employing citizens into its services. The recent and ongoing employment by some MDAs, such as the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), Sharia Commission, and Ministry of Housing and Environment, among others, is a testament to this.”

The establishment of community radios is expected to enhance communication and information dissemination in Bauchi State, promoting development and community engagement.
