President Bola Tinubu was in Benue State on Wednesday to sympathise with the people of the state over recent events that led to the death of hundreds of people.

The President met with key stakeholders in the state, following the massacre in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area, which sparked outrage across the country.

And in response to the crisis, Tinubu issued orders to the state governor and security chiefs at the Town Hall meeting.

He ordered that a Council of Elders be formed which would incorporate all previous governors, including the former governor of Nasarawa State.

He requested land to be allocated for ranching by the state Governor

The President urged the citizens of Benue to unite and collaborate against evil and live in peace with their neighbours.

He encouraged traditional leaders to collaborate with the government to foster peace.

Tinubu further advised Governor Innocent Alia to brace himself for criticism, adding that it is part and parcel of being a leader.

He encouraged the governor to metaphorically grab a lantern and reach out to fellow leaders to collaborate on finding solutions.
