The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has been declared the winner of the local government elections conducted in all 23 Local Government Areas of the state. Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), Richard Tombowua, announced the results of the election at exactly 9:16 am on Sunday.

According to Tombowua, the APC also won all councillorship seats in 276 council wards across the state, leaving none for other parties.

Eight political parties participated in the elections, but only five were actively involved

Eight political parties participated in the elections, but only five were actively involved: APC, Action Alliance Congress (AAC), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), along with New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP). Interestingly, this outcome contrasts with the 2020 local government elections, where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won all 23 chairmanship and 276 councilorship positions.

Tombowua’s announcement confirmed the APC’s dominance in the Benue State local government elections.
