The new acting chairman, All Progressive Congress, Adamawa State chapter of the APC, Chief Samaila Tadawus, has said, his emergency as acting chairman of the party is nothing to be surprised about, saying it is the result of natural succession.
This is just as he said the resignation of the immediate former party chairman, Ibrahim Bilal, was, “reasonable and done for the good of the party.”
Addressing journalists for the first time in party secretariat, on Wednesday, Tadawus, said it was only natural that after Bilal, left that rhe leadership of the party in the state should rest on him as Bilal’s deputy.
TG NEWS had reported the resignation of the embattled Adamawa State chairman of the APC, Ibrahim Bilal, from office, few weeks after his purported impeachment by some members of the state working committee. Bilal, who intially dismissed his removal, saying he still remains the party’s chairman, had approached the court and got a court order restraining his deputy, Samaila Tadawus, who replaced him from parading himself as party’s acting chairman.
Bilal however on the 13th of September, a week after, the attempts to remove him tendered his resignation, addressed to national chairman of the party, in circumstances that suggest he may have bowed to pressure mounted on him to do so.
But Tadawus however, called Bilal’s resignation, as “good” for the party. According to him, Bilal took the action not to hinder the party’s chances of winning the 2023 elections, following the leadership crisis that plagued the party under him.
He explained that party under the former chairman had been dogged by leadership crisis, adding that Bilal reasoned that his resignation was the honourable thing to do under the circumstances.
He also dismissed as untrue the portrayal in a section of the media that the controversy surrounding Bilal’s exit, had links with the outcome of recent APC gubernatorial primaries in Adamawa.
He said, ” You can’t hinder anybody from going to court. But what we know is that the party is supreme. Now our party’s candidate is Aishatu Binani, if anything else comes up. We are still one family and we would all move together in one train.
“So it must be stated that Bilal’s removal had nothing to do with the outcome of the party’s gubernatorial primaries. The APC Exco they had a problem of leadership only, that is why they took that decision and he himself the chairman ( Bilal) reasoned that if he’s the problem of the party, then he would rather leave. And because he wants the party to succeed that is why he resigned.
“It has nothing to do with the gubernatorial primaries, whether he backed this candidate or the other. His resignation is for the good of the party.”
