Leader of a coalition group under the auspices of Bindow for 2023, Sulaiman Yerima has called on stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State to support former governor Muhammadu Umar Jibrilla Bindow ahead of 2023 general polls saying that Bindow is the magnum opus the party needs for its survival.
Rising from a stakeholders meeting with members of the coalition across the 21 local governments of the state, in Yola, Thursday, Yerima said, Bindow is the only potent force that can dismantle the PDP behemoth come 2023.
“We should not lose sight to the fact that in APC, Bindow is the only politician with a well oiled political machinery that can pulverise the PDP Armageddon in the next election.
“Bindow is the only politician with the most vibrant and bullish political structure across the state that can match the PDP squarely in any contest.
“The former governor also needs to consolidate the laudable programmes and projects he started in 2015. It will be wise for the APC family to give him an unconditional support so that the next zone that will take the mantle from him can start on a clean slate,” Yerima said.
Yerima noted that with Bindow as the candidate, APC as a party can go to sleep because going by the established data and statistics of the last election, he needed just a little push by the party stakeholders to coast to victory.
“In the last election, Bindow garnered 336,386 votes against the 376,562 votes scored by the PDP. We all know that majority of the votes scored by the PDP, were given to it by aggrieved members of the APC.
” Now that the APC has put its house in order, it will be wise for it to present its most formidable candidate to face the ruling party.
“As a group, we will soon kick start a massive mobilization and sensitization drive towards the 2023 project. Our group of more than 50,000 force will soon spring to action. We will take our campaign to every nook and cranny of the state to consolidate a robust and well structured support base,” Yerima said.
Yerima added that his group will also intensify lobby across every strata of the party to ensure that their mission is accepted by all and sundry as democracy is all about give and take.
“One of the strategies is to deploy a massive lobby for the realization of our ambition, as democracy itself is about give and take and one’s abilities to lobby and reach consensus with diverse groups and interests. We are confident our strategies will work,” he added.
The youth leader added that Bindow needs a second term to consolidate all the laudable programmes he rooted in the state.
“We all know the exploits of the former governor under whose tenure, Adamawa State became a massive construction site.
“It is on record that in his first one hundred days in power, Bindow commissioned a number of developmental projects and since then it has been projects galore in the state. So we need him to continue from where he stopped for the benefit of all,” Yerima added.
