Boko Haram Raiders Abduct Schoolchildren in Fresh Borno Attack

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Friday invaded a primary and junior secondary school in Mussa village, Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, abducting an unspecified number of pupils.

The attackers, arriving in large numbers on motorcycles, stormed the school shortly after military troops on patrol had left the community, sources said.

A resident of the village told Daily Trust that many children were kidnapped in the early hours of Friday, though the exact number could not be independently verified.

Hon. Abdullahi Askira, Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, confirmed the attack but said details remained sketchy.

“Many of the students fled into the bush, but I don’t have details of those abducted,” he stated, describing the incident as disheartening.

The deputy speaker noted that the insurgents appeared to have monitored troop movements before striking just minutes after the soldiers departed.

Posts on social media, particularly Facebook, have called for prayers for the affected children and the community.

Efforts to get a reaction from the Borno State Police Command proved unsuccessful as the spokesman, Nahum Kenneth Daso, did not respond to calls or text messages.

The attack is the latest in a series of school-targeted abductions by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State, raising fresh concerns over the safety of students and the effectiveness of security measures in vulnerable communities.
