BOMB SCARE IN YOLA, POLICE AND ARMY ANTI BOMB SQUADS DEFUSED SUSPICIOUS BAG AMIDST PALPABLE TENSION

A Palpable tension gripped Yola on Thursday over a Bomb scare following the sighting of strange bag by the road side in front of Federal College of Education (FCE) Yola.

The discovery caused pandemonium and obstructed traffic chaos along the Jimeta- Yola road for more than an hour led to the arrival of team of policemen and soldiers to cordon off the area before defusing the bag.

The policemen from the Adamawa Anti bomb squad who went into action immediately however, discovered that the bag was not containing any explosive.

Speaking on the development, the Adamawa Police command Public Relations Officer, SP Othman Abubakar said that the bag contained waste materials.

Abubakar however lauded the public for been vigilant and urged them to always alert the police whenever they sighted any suspicious object.

The chief security of FCE, Mr  Salihu Muhammed who was among those that reported the matter to the police said  that  the suspicious  bag was abandoned by an unknown person and they immediately  alerted the police.

Muhammed dismissed rumors circulation that the suspicious bag was inside the college, saying “it was completely untruth the back was outside the college gate” 

Meanwhile, Adamawa government through the Commissioner for Information and Strategic Ahmed Sajoh has cautioned the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious move or  object to security operative.

The Commissioners warning came on the heels of freeing Boko Haram insurgents’ fighter who are running away from the fall of ground zero in Sambisa forest near Madagali Local Government Area.
