Boss Mustapha Focused on Tinubu’s Reelection, Not Contesting Adamawa Governorship – Ally Debunks Viral Posters

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Barrister Boss Mustapha, remains firmly committed to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection bid in 2027 and strengthening the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, rather than pursuing the governorship seat himself, a close associate has clarified.

Viral campaign posters circulating online, featuring Dr. Boss Mustapha as a candidate for Adamawa State Governor under the APC banner in 2027, have sparked speculation about his political ambitions.

The posters, which highlight themes of “Experience, Competence, Integrity,” and position him as “Dr. Boss Mustapha” for the top job, have been widely shared on social media and messaging platforms.

However, Nuhu Sani, President of The Bridge Builders of Nigeria, a group aligned with Mustapha and a staunch supporter close to the former SGF, has firmly debunked the claims.

Speaking in his capacity as a loyalist, Sani emphasized that Mustapha, an elder statesman from Adamawa State, has no intention of contesting the governorship.

“Boss is an elder statesman and his national politics for Nigerians is his concern. To bring back Tinubu back in 2027 and APC to win all elections in Adamawa state,” Sani stated, underscoring Mustapha’s focus on national-level support for President Tinubu’s continuity and the APC’s dominance in his home state.

Sani further dismissed any gubernatorial plans, describing Mustapha as dedicated to broader party and national objectives rather than personal state-level candidacy.

In a related development, Sani welcomed the incumbent Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to the APC, describing it as a significant boost. “He is Welcome Fintiri to APC family believe the coming of Fintiri on board will make the party much stronger,” Sani said, suggesting that such moves could consolidate APC’s position ahead of future elections in the state.

Sani also expressed appreciation for the efforts of National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu in combating insecurity, highlighting Ribadu’s role in national stability efforts.

Boss Mustapha, a prominent APC figure from Adamawa who served as SGF under former President Muhammadu Buhari from 2017 to 2023, has a history of political engagement in the state, including past governorship attempts.

Recent political discourse in Adamawa has seen various APC figures positioned as potential contenders for 2027, amid efforts to reconcile party members and build strength for national and state polls.

The clarification comes as political activities intensify toward the 2027 general elections, with viral materials often fueling speculation in Nigeria’s dynamic political landscape. Mustapha’s camp maintains that his priorities lie in supporting President Tinubu’s agenda and ensuring APC success across levels, rather than entering the Adamawa governorship race.
