BREAKING: Entire ADC Leadership Resigns to Pave Way for Coalition to Rescue Nigeria

The entire leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at all levels has resigned to facilitate a coalition aimed at rescuing Nigeria from its ongoing challenges. The announcement was made by outgoing National Chairman, Ralph O. Nwosu, during a high-profile event at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

The resignation clears the path for a formidable opposition coalition to take over the ADC’s party structure, with the goal of unseating President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.

The event saw the convergence of major opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

Nwosu, who has led the ADC since its inception in 2005, described the decision as a patriotic sacrifice to foster unity and address Nigeria’s pressing issues, including poverty, insecurity, and poor governance.

“This is not about personal ambition but about Nigeria’s future. The ADC is now the coalition party to bring enduring democratic change,” he stated, echoing sentiments from earlier statements where he positioned the ADC as Nigeria’s coalition platform.

Senator David Mark has been named interim National Chairman, with Rauf Aregbesola appointed as National Secretary, to steer the party through this transitional phase.

The coalition’s formation follows months of strategic discussions, with Nwosu confirming that committees led by Dr. Bamidele Ganiyu Ajadi and Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad have been engaging stakeholders nationwide to ensure inclusivity and a continental vision.

The coalition’s next steps include finalizing leadership structures and selecting a presidential candidate for 2027, with assurances that the process will be transparent and inclusive.
