Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has directed all political office holders serving in his administration who have publicly defected to, or declared allegiance to, other political parties to immediately resign their appointments.

The directive was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.
According to the governor, the order became necessary to safeguard loyalty, discipline, and the integrity of governance within the state administration.
Fintiri stated that political appointees are expected to support and advance the policies, programmes, and political objectives of the government under which they serve.
He warned that continued service by appointees who have aligned themselves with other political parties could undermine government operations and pose risks to policy implementation.
“Continued service by persons who have aligned with another party poses a clear risk of sabotage, information leakage, and obstruction of policy implementation and party strategy,” the governor said.
The directive requires all affected appointees to submit their resignation letters to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government within 48 hours.
To ensure compliance, the governor also directed the Office of the Secretary to the State Government and the Office of the Head of Service to compile, verify, and submit a comprehensive list of all political appointees affected by the directive.
Fintiri warned that any appointee who fails to comply within the stipulated period would face immediate termination of appointment and forfeiture of all salaries, entitlements, and benefits attached to the office.
He further noted that additional administrative sanctions could be imposed on defaulters.
“This is a clear message that public office is held in trust and must align with the vision, agenda, and mandate of the administration. Government cannot condone divided loyalty in the discharge of public trust,” the governor stated.
The directive takes immediate effect and is expected to impact political appointees who have recently declared support for rival political parties ahead of the evolving political realignments in the state.
