Breaking: Iranian Drones Strike U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Causing Minor Damage

In a significant escalation of the ongoing Middle East conflict, two drones – widely attributed to Iran – struck the United States Embassy compound in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, early Tuesday morning.

The attack triggered a small fire and caused minor material damage, according to statements from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense and U.S. officials. No injuries or casualties were reported.

The incident occurred amid Iran’s retaliatory strikes across the region following recent U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iranian targets. Saudi officials condemned the attack in the strongest terms, describing it as “cowardly,” while confirming that the drones hit the embassy grounds in the early hours, leading to limited structural impact and a contained fire.

In direct response, the U.S. Mission to Saudi Arabia issued an immediate “shelter in place” advisory for American citizens in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dhahran, urging them to avoid the embassy compound until further notice. All consular appointments were canceled, and the embassy was effectively shut down for operations.

The U.S. State Department has also closed the embassy in Kuwait following a similar drone attack there and ordered the evacuation of non-emergency personnel and families from several Gulf states, including Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates.

President Donald Trump, addressing the broader conflict, has indicated that the U.S. response to the embassy strikes and related attacks on American interests would be revealed “soon.”

Trump previously estimated that major combat operations could last up to four weeks but suggested the campaign might extend longer, emphasizing that no ground troops would be necessary in Iran.

He reiterated America’s resolve, stating that the conflict would not become an “endless” war despite the intensity of munitions use.

The drone strikes on the Riyadh embassy come as part of a wave of Iranian counterattacks targeting U.S. allies and assets in the Gulf, including reported incidents in Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain.

This follows intensified Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon and ongoing airstrikes on Iranian and Hezbollah positions.

Saudi Arabia’s defense forces later reported intercepting and destroying additional drones near Riyadh and Al-Kharj, highlighting heightened regional air defenses.

The U.S. State Department has issued a broader urgent advisory urging American citizens across multiple Middle Eastern countries to “DEPART NOW” due to ongoing regional tensions and the risk of further attacks.

This development marks a direct hit on a major U.S. diplomatic facility in the kingdom, underscoring the rapid spread of the U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict into Gulf Arab states and raising concerns about potential further escalation in the region.
