Breaking: Many feared dead in Taraba over collapse of a one storey building under construction

Many feared dead as a one-storey building using substandard materials collapsed in Nikkai Jalingo, Taraba State.

The building was alleged to have rumbled down because of substandard materials used in constructing it.

In the one-story building belonging to a major building material dealer, Mr. Uche Obi in the state our correspondent who was at the scene observed that many are trapped in the rubbles with rescuers making efforts to save their life.

You would recall that the standards organization of Nigeria (SON) locked down the business premises of Obi some months ago as a result of selling substandard building material.

An official of SON who wants to be anonymous said Obi’s former business premises were under locks and keys by SON for selling substandard goods but resorted to taking the organization to court and later moved to open a new business outfit in the Nikkai area of Jalingo where he started erecting upstairs.

According to him the upstairs under construction by Uche collapsed with workers working at the site, several casualties not yet known at the time of filling this report.

Details in a short while
