A devastating building collapse occurred late Wednesday in Awka, Anambra State, but fortunately, two construction workers were rescued from the rubble. The three-story building, located near the Central Bank of Nigeria office and Diamond Pizza, was in the final stages of construction when it suddenly caved in without warning.


Eyewitnesses sprang into action, initiating rescue efforts before emergency responders arrived on the scene. According to State police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the rescued workers are receiving treatment in the hospital and are expected to recover. Miraculously, no fatalities have been reported.
The authorities have cordoned off the site and launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse, with the site engineer and building owner being questioned.

The Awka Capital Territory Development Authority has also set up a panel of inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
