Breaking News: Adamawa Commissioner for Works and Energy, Son of Atiku Abubakar, Resigns Amid Fintiri’s APC Defection Wave

Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar, the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Energy Development in Adamawa State and son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has formally resigned from his position after completing two successful terms in office.

In a press statement released today, the former commissioner expressed deep gratitude to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for the opportunity to serve in the strategic ministry.

He described the role as “an honour of immense significance” and reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty and support for the administration’s developmental agenda.

Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar also thanked his father for the moral support and blessings that enabled him to serve the people of Adamawa State.

He commended the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministries of Works and Energy, directors, engineers, and all staff for their professionalism, resilience, and dedication to advancing infrastructure across the state.

He extended special appreciation to the people of Jada, his home community, for their consistent prayers, encouragement, and support throughout his tenure.

Notably, the resignation comes in the wake of Governor Fintiri’s recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), along with much of the state’s political structure, including 22 commissioners and special advisers who joined the move.

Unlike many of his cabinet colleagues, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar did not defect to the APC, with reports indicating his name was absent from the list of those who switched parties.

The former commissioner stressed that his resignation does not signal the end of his dedication to public service.

Instead, he described it as “the beginning of new avenues for developmental collaboration” and pledged to continue contributing to the growth, unity, and progress of Adamawa State.

The statement was signed by Abdulaziz Mallam Jauro, Administrative Personal Assistant and Media Team Lead, on behalf of Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar.

This development adds another layer to the ongoing political realignment in Adamawa State, Atiku Abubakar’s home base, following Governor Fintiri’s high-profile switch to the ruling APC.
