In his end-of-year address, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State announced the creation of new chiefdoms, emirates, and districts, aimed at repositioning the traditional institution and enhancing governance at the grassroots level.

The governor revealed that the Adamawa State Chiefs (Appointment and Deposition) Law 2024 has been enacted, paving the way for the establishment of new traditional institutions. Specifically, the following chiefdoms and emirates have been created:

– Hoba Chiefdom with headquarters at Hong – 2nd-Class Status

– Madagali Chiefdom with headquarters at Gulak – 2nd-Class Status

– Michika Chiefdom with headquarters at Michika – 2nd-Class Status

– Fufore Emirate with headquarters at Fufore – 2nd-Class Status

– Gombi Chiefdom with headquarters at Gombi – 3rd-Class Status

– Maiha Emirate with headquarters at Maiha – 3rd-Class Status

– Yungur Chiefdom with headquarters at Dumne – 3rd-Class Status

These new traditional institutions are expected to play a vital role in promoting peace, resolving disputes, and fostering social cohesion in their respective domains
