BREAKING NEWS: Bandits Storm Abuja Community, Kidnap 5 People on Sunday Night

A devastating attack occurred in the Chikakore community in Kubwa, Abuja, on Sunday night, as at least 20 armed bandits stormed the area, kidnapping five residents, including a family of three and their guest. The assailants struck around 11 p.m. in the Health Centre extension area, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos in their wake.

Among those abducted were Adesiyan Akinropo, his wife, their son, and a visiting guest, as well as a neighbor, bringing the total number of victims to five.

During the attack, a woman was brutally struck on the head with a gun butt, causing severe bleeding, and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The police from the Byzahin division responded to the scene, but unfortunately, they arrived approximately 90 minutes after the attack, by which time the bandits had already fled with the captives.

Residents are frustrated and concerned about the delayed police response, with one community member stating, “We need a police division here. We have land and a five-bedroom apartment ready for them, but no deployment has been made.”

This attack raises further concerns about security in the Chikakore area, which has previously been affected by violence. Earlier in January, fleeing bandits from Katsina State detonated explosives near an Islamic school in Kuchibuyi, Bwari Area Council, resulting in two deaths. The community is calling for increased security measures to be put in place to prevent such attacks in the future. Efforts to contact the FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, for comment were unsuccessful as calls went unanswered.
