Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has appointed legendary Nigerian musician Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba, as the Technical Adviser for Entertainment and Community Outreach. The announcement, made earlier today, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, marks a bold step by the Alia administration to harness the power of entertainment for community development and engagement.
Governor Alia, a Catholic priest-turned-politician who assumed office in May 2023, unveiled the appointment during a brief ceremony at the Government House in Makurdi. The decision underscores his administration’s innovative approach to governance, blending cultural influence with public service to address the state’s pressing needs.
2Face, a native of Benue State and one of Africa’s most celebrated artists, brings a wealth of fame and grassroots credibility to the role, promising to elevate the state’s profile on both national and global stages.
“This is a new dawn for Benue,” Governor Alia declared. “Innocent Idibia is not just a music icon; he is a son of the soil with a deep connection to our people. His voice and vision will inspire our youth, bridge communities, and showcase Benue’s rich talent to the world.”

2Face, known for hits like African Queen and Amaka, expressed gratitude and enthusiasm for the appointment.

The 49-year-old artist, who rose to fame as a member of the Plantashun Boiz before embarking on a stellar solo career, is expected to leverage his extensive network and creative expertise to drive initiatives in the state.
