Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has sworn in Peace Samson Audu as the new Chairperson of Fufore Local Government Area, marking a significant transition following the passing of the late Alhaji Shuaibu Babas.
The ceremony, held at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Yola, saw the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, administer the oath of office and allegiance to the new appointee.
In his address, Governor Fintiri expressed unwavering confidence in Audu’s ability to lead, hailing her as a dedicated member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with a proven track record of competence and loyalty.
“Peace Samson Audu is not new to this role. She stepped up as acting chairperson during the late chairman’s illness, ensuring continuity,” Fintiri said, underscoring that her appointment adhered strictly to constitutional guidelines.

He emphasized that her leadership would maintain stability in Fufore without any governance gap.
The governor seized the moment to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, declaring, “In my government, there is no room for religious or tribal bigotry. We treat everyone fairly, and that is why Adamawa enjoys peace, progress, and development today.”
He urged Audu to honor her oath, work collaboratively with stakeholders, and prioritize development, unity, and security in Fufore. Fintiri also called on residents to rally behind their new chairperson, describing her as a “mother figure” devoted to their collective well-being.
Reflecting on his six-year tenure, Fintiri expressed pride in Adamawa’s transformation and optimism for its future. “I am confident that someone even better will take over when my time is up and continue this legacy,” he said. Following extensive consultations, he announced Sale Manu as the Vice Chairman of the council, further solidifying the new leadership structure.
In her acceptance speech, Peace Samson Audu conveyed a blend of sorrow and gratitude. She paid tribute to her predecessor, Alhaji Shuaibu Babas, whom she described as a “visionary leader with grand plans for Fufore,” noting the profound loss his death represents.
Turning to Governor Fintiri, whom she called her “leader and mentor,” Audu expressed deep appreciation for the trust placed in her. “I am humbled by this opportunity and pledge my unflinching loyalty to this administration,” she said.

Audu promised the people of Fufore a leadership rooted in transparency and purpose, vowing to deliver on their expectations while remaining open to constructive criticism. “I am here to serve, and I welcome your input to ensure we govern effectively together,” she assured the gathering.
The swearing-in has been met with widespread approval from community leaders and residents, who see Audu’s appointment as a testament to Governor Fintiri’s commitment to gender equity and grassroots development.
As Fufore embarks on this new chapter, all eyes are on the chairperson to build on her predecessor’s legacy and steer the local government toward greater prosperity.
