He acknowledged the widespread economic hardships and the challenges of the past few years but expressed optimism for a brighter future. Mahama’s administration is expected to focus on reviving the economy, tackling corruption, and reclaiming lost assets, which were among his key campaign pledges.

 

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries from across the continent, including Kenyan President William Ruto and Botswana’s newly-elected president, Duma Boko. The presence of these world leaders underscores the significance of Mahama’s inauguration and Ghana’s importance in the region. As Mahama begins his new term, he faces the daunting task of addressing Ghana’s economic crisis, which has been characterized by record inflation, debt, and high unemployment.

Mahama’s commitment to expanding trade among African countries under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is also expected to be a key focus of his administration.
