The meeting, described as ongoing and focused on security matters, includes the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Air Staff, Inspector-General of Police, and Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Sources close to the presidency, including Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Olusegun Dada confirmed the gathering via a post on the platform X, formerly Twitter.
The announcement, accompanied by images from the State House showing the president and officials in discussion, underscores the administration’s commitment to addressing pressing security challenges amid ongoing issues such as banditry, terrorism, and regional instability in parts of the country.
While specific details of the discussions remain undisclosed, the urgency of the session has sparked speculation among observers.
Recent reports of abductions and attacks in northern Nigeria, including bandit incursions, may be at the forefront. Public reactions on social media have been swift, with citizens expressing support for decisive action against terrorists and calling for enhanced military operations, including aerial bombardments of suspected hideouts.
