Femi Soneye, the spokesperson for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has resigned from his position, effective immediately. In a personal statement issued on Saturday, Soneye cited the need to focus on his personal businesses and family responsibilities as the reason for his departure.

Soneye expressed gratitude to his colleagues and the NNPCL team for their support and collaboration during his 20-month tenure. He acknowledged the team’s efforts in building a strong communications presence for the national energy company.

“I have stepped aside from my role as Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd to devote more time to my family and attend to personal responsibilities,” Soneye stated. “It has been a profound honour to serve both the Company and our country.”

Soneye assured that he would remain a steadfast supporter and ambassador of NNPCL, encouraging his colleagues to continue their robust and balanced reportage in support of the company’s mission.

The resignation comes as a surprise, and the NNPCL has yet to announce a replacement.
