Ike Ekweremadu Bags 10 Year Jail Term
A Nigerian senator and two others have been sentenced to jail terms in the UK for their roles in a plot to harvest a man’s kidney for the senator’s sick daughter.

Ike Ekweremadu, a former deputy senate president, was sentenced to nine years and eight months, while his wife Beatrice received four years and six months, and medical doctor Obinna Obeta was given 10 years.

The trio were convicted of conspiracy to arrange the travel of Nigerian man David Nwamini to the UK in order to exploit him for his kidney.

The trial of Senator Ike Ekweremadu lasted six weeks and was held at London’s Central Criminal Court, the Old Bailey. Prosecutors described Ekweremadu’s behaviour as showing “entitlement, dishonesty and hypocrisy”.
