In his post, Obi wrote, “Today in Abuja, I met with my very dear elder brother, statesman, and leader, former President Goodluck Jonathan @GEJonathan. We had a fruitful closed-door meeting and discussed the state of our dear nation.” He included three photos showing the two leaders smiling and talking warmly.

The meeting focused on important issues facing Nigeria, but no details were shared. This has led many to wonder if Obi and Jonathan are planning to work together to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027. Political groups are already making moves to prepare for the elections, and this meeting has added to the excitement.

Some reports suggest Jonathan’s supporters want him to run for president again and have asked Obi to support him. Others say the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jonathan’s former party, is trying to bring both leaders back to join their team. However, nothing has been confirmed.

This is not the first time Obi and Jonathan have met. They discussed national issues in January 2025, and Obi praised Jonathan’s love for Nigeria. Today’s meeting has many Nigerians talking, with Obi’s X post getting thousands of likes. People are eager to see if this will lead to a stronger opposition against the APC in 2027.
