Former President Muhammadu Buhari exited office financially strained but with his personal integrity unblemished, according to his former spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu.

Speaking at an event in Abuja on Tuesday, Shehu staunchly defended Buhari’s legacy, emphasizing that “nobody can say he gave him a bribe” during his eight-year tenure.

Shehu addressed long-standing controversies, including allegations surrounding Buhari’s academic certificates, dismissing them as “a product of politics surrounding the 2015 election.”

He portrayed the former president as a disciplined and principled leader who prioritized transparency and accountability.
