Buba commissions federal projects in Adamawa, Re-assures President Buhari of His People’s Continuous Support

Adamawa Federal lawmaker for Gombi/ Hong Constituency at the House of Representatives,Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub has expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his many developmental initiatives in the area. The lawmaker also reassured the President of the continuous support of the people of his Constituency,saying their trust and votes for him in the last two elections were never misplaced.

Rt. Hon.Buba,who made known the above today in his Constituency during the commissioning of some completed Federal projects domiciled in different parts of the Constituency on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari,promised the people that there were more things to be expected from the Buhari Administration. He also promised to , alongside his colleagues at the National Assembly and other Adamawa indigenes in Government,strive to bring home all that the people and their State desired to move ahead,adding that the era has changed from the politics of mere representation to that of performance.

The project commissioning,which had commenced from some completed Erosion and Flood Control sites along Bangshika-Gashaka Road in Hong Local Government Area of the Federal Constituency,also led to inspection visits to the construction site for Line Drain,Storm Water Drain and Cross Culverts at Tappare Ware Gombi,Gombi Local Government Area of the Constituency,where finishing touches and conformity to contract specifications by the contractor handling the project, Buba observed, were necessary considerations to be met before the project would be commissioned .

The Adamawa- born lawmaker,who is, also, Chairman,Committee on Foreign Affairs,House of Representatives,also used the opportunity to flag- off construction activities at his nearly 90 Million Naira health facility Constituency project sited at the Gombi North area of his Constituency. The project, which is very dear to the heart of the lawmaker,owing to the absence of a befitting hospital in the whole of the area, would at completion, according the Representative, be a brand new hospital complete with patient wards,a modern Pharmacy,doctors’ quarters as well as a modern perimeter fencing and a solar- powered central lighting system among other features.

In order to also ensure that most of other ongoing projects he had brought from sundry sources were still ongoing and rightly on course,Rt. Hon.Buba ,who as a member of the defunct Presidential Committee on Northeast Initiative ( PCNI), a precursor of the Northeast Development Commission ,NEDC, had taken some Federal Government’s water projects that were being funded by the World Bank to some communities in his Constituency, also took time out to inspect the ongoing water projects at Hong,Pella,Uba,Garkida as well as in Gombi.

While commending the rate of work at the water projects,the lawmaker also interacted with Constituents and stakeholders over the newly- awarded more than 7 Billion Naira contract for the reconstruction of the Gombi-Biu Road.Rt. Hon.Buba frowned at what he said was becoming a major pastime of officials of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing who, especially across the Northeast Zone, recklessly award road rehabilitation contracts with little or no resources to finance such projects.. While calling on the Ministry to desist from the practice,which,he said, encourages corruption and site abandonment,the former Abuja- based entrepreneur and realtor, wondered why anyone would award an over 7 Billion Naira road reconstruction contract where just a paltry 100 Million Naira has been allocated to such a job in the operating budget.

It will be recalled that
President Muhammadu Buhari had a few weeks ago in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,Barr. Boss Mustapha, nominated the lawmaker representing Gombi/ Hong Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives to commission some completed Erosion and Flood Control projects built by the Federal Government in Adamawa State.

In the aforementioned letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,a copy of which was sighted by the lawmaker’s media handlers in Abuja,earlier in the week,, Rt. Hon.Buba was specifically requested to choose a date to commission the two projects funded by the Ecological Fund Office in the Presidency and to hand them over to the Adamawa State Government.

Part of the letter reads:
” I am pleased to inform you that the following projects funded by the Ecological Fund Office have been completed. They are:
i. Erosion Control and Road Improvement Works at Bangshika-Gashaka Road,Adamawa State (Phases I & Ii);

ii. Construction of Line Drain,Storm Water Drain and Cross Culverts at Tappare Ware Gombi,Gombi Local Government Area,Adamawa State.

” You have been nominated by Mr. President to officially commission and handover the projects to the State. You are requested to kindly choose a convenient date for the commissioning of the projects”,the letter requested.

Meanwhile,following the tacit agreement among stakeholders in the projects, today, Friday,the 18th of December 2020 had been, consequently,set aside for the commissioning exercise.

In a Press Conference at the end of the entire exercise,Rt.Hon.Buba again
re-iterated his gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his very quick intervention in the plight of the people of his Constituency,,who,he observed, had before now suffered untold hardship and even loss of lives and property as a result of flooding and the menace of life-threatening erosions that usually occured at the peak of the rainy season in the area.The lawmaker said the timely intervention of the Federal Government and the completion of the projects have, definitely, without doubts,offered his Constituents a new lease of life.He ,also,commended one of their very own,Barrister Boss Mustapha, who is Secretary to the Government of the Federation,for ensuring that the projects were delivered to specifications and on schedule,too.

Among those present at the day’s events were traditional rulers,Party stalwarts, youth and women groups,members of the different Hon.Yusuf Capt. Buba Support Groups and Organisations and other stakeholders.
