Buhari celebrates IBB at 81, prays for him

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday sent best wishes to former military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), who will clock 81 on Wednesday, August 17, 2022,

A statement on Tuesday by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity read, “President Buhari joins family, friends and associates of the former leader in celebrating another year, heralded by God’s benevolence and mercies.

“The President notes the historical role of the former military President in shaping the political and economic development of the country, and his counsels to upcoming political leaders.

“President Buhari prays for longer life, good health and strength for the octogenarian.”

Babangida on August 27, 1985 led a coup and overthrew the military government of Major General Muhammadu Buhari, who himself had two years earlier, took power, through coup d’état, from the civilian government of Shehu Shagari.
