The National President, Youth wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Engr. David Daniel David who issued a Press statement to our reporter on a headline “Youth wing of CAN on national issues” where he warn that President Muhammadu Buhari,Senators,Ministers and any other political office holders “should not take Nigerian Christians for granted.”
According to him the lopsided appointments by the President against the Christian community is call for concern as it’s portraying a serious disunity among the adherent followers of both Christianity and Islamic religion in the country that many people have been complaining.
David questioned why some appointments are mainly reserve for Muslim faithfuls given EFCC, NDLEA as example to have being controlled by Northern Muslims to talk more of Christians to be considered hold the helms of affairs of the organisations. Where 80% of the appointments goes to only Muslims.
“This administration should not take Nigerian Christians for granted, while we’ve mentioned the lopsided appointments,we want to observe that since its inception, the EFCC have been Led by Muslims exclusively. Likewise, the NDLEA despite the case of controversial and embarrassing missing drugs during Bappa Jama,re, Muslims have been at the helm of affairs in NDLEA. Does this suggests Muslims in Nigeria have an edge over Christians in fighting crime or corruption?”
He continued to say that:”Having observed some abnormalities in the earlier appointments by this administration in favor of one religion and region above the other.”
He also lamented that the preaching of the “change mantra” has turned up to be a one sided fighting corruption, where APC members are above the law, and are unconnected to the corruption fight.
“We want to caution that nigerians and international communities are carefully watching the political drama under the current APC led administration with its “Change mantra “. The APC leaders cannot be above the change philosophy nor above the Nigeria Constitution, neither is any of the three tiers of government above institutionalized statutes and regulations.
“The change mantra of this administration is therefore, disconnected to the rule of law and due process. We demand strongly that change must begin at the top, from the three tiers of government.
“For these reasons amongst others,we still demand that the search light of the war on corruption and economic crimes should equally be beamed on APC politicians and office holders rather then seen to be largely on political oppositions.”Daniel Said
He however commented the role and process of the Legislatures in discharging their Constitutional responsibilities to Nigerians without recourse to ethnicity, religion or party loyalty. Calling on the National Assembly to debate and find lasting solutions to the biting hardship, poverty, rising death and suicide cases across the country.
“The role of the Senate as an independent tier of government in the case of Ibrahim Magu the acting EFCC Chairman and the DSS report is commendable as unbiased and none sentimental in the interest of Nigerians.
“The Youth wing of CAN and indeed Nigerians are aware of the principle of separation of powers, the constitutional obligations of each tier of government as well as the duties and functions of all government agencies, department, parastatals and ministries within the context of their enabling acts.
“In like manner, Nigerians have since been waiting the arrests and prosecution of the sponsors or “big wigs” behind those errand terrorist often paraded as perpetrators of terror on innocent Nigerians. The Fulani herdsmen that have being killing our Christian Brothers and sisters in many Northern states. Enough of the blood shed.” He added
This kind of change God will ask him and he supposed to remember that is not only Islam that voted for him
We as Christian youth ate watching with keen the state of the nation regarding appointment. Two new ministers will be appointed by president and the first is Hassan. 2019 will be ..
