Murmushi Peoples Development Foundation (MPDF) has commenced a coaching and mentoring project titled “Building and Strengthening Organizational Capacity through Hands-on Coaching and Mentoring and Capacity Development Support for three Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Adamawa State.

The project is supported and funded by the EU-ACT program in Nigeria and implemented by the British Council.

In an interview with our reporter, the Executive Director Murmishi People’s Development Foundation, Babagari Baraya said the aim of the mentorship/coaching is to build the organizational development capacities and enhance the skills of the three CSOs in Adamawa State.

He noted that at the end of the exercise, the three CSOs are expected to operate efficiently.

“At the end of the four months project, the three CSOs should have the capacities to manage their projects very well and that will facilitate their abilities to serve their communities efficiently.

“The coaching and mentoring project is an off shoot of training development support Murmushi received from the EU-ACT training, coaching, and peer-learning activities during the first phase of the EU-ACT capacity development support program for CSOs in 10 States of Nigeria.

“In Adamawa State they trained 20 CSOs including Murmishi Peoples Development Foundation. They assessed the capacity of Murmishi and decided to engaged it in building the capacities of three additional CSOs in any of the organizational development area they are lagging.

“So Murmishi was given the funding to conduct four months mentoring/coaching for the three CSOs. But considering that the 20 CSOs earlier trained were all from Yola, we decided to engage the three benefitting CSOs outside Yola.

“We picked one from Hong, one from Mubi north and another from Mubi South local governments. The project is basically to provide coaching and mentoring to the CSOs in two developmental areas that is project circle management and the development of strategic plan,” he said.
