The Central Banks of Nigeria (CBN) has denied a report that its Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has been sacked.
Reports in some media platforms have claimed that Emefiele had been sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Reacting to the report, the Head of Corporate Communications of the Central Bank, Osita Nwanisiobi said the purported sack was far from the truth.
He said, “I heard it just the way you got it too. As far as I am concerned, it’s a rumour, I’m not aware of any sack”
Nigerians have been calling for Emefiele’s sack since his declared interest to contest for the position of president in 2023.
