The Special class of community health officers (CHO) students of the 2023/2024 batch during a community diagno Field workwork have given free Malaria, Typhoid, worms, and Sexually transmitted infection sicknesses (STIs) to the Plateau State community of Tozon, Gindiri District, Mangu local government area.
The Students who were in Mangu from 14th-27th April 2024 and are currently undergoing studies at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) have visited the Gindiri District Head office, PHC Director, and Mangu LGA Chairman as part of the activities to mark their health tour in Mangu.
The Health workers in Students’ Health visit the Community for household identification, numbering, and allocation of households to students have also administered questionnaires & Reviewed filled questionnaires.
The CHOs embarked on Community mobilization for physical examination, Specimen collection/Laboratory analysis with a lot of Health action activities involving drama presentations about Health action.
The Free Medical services to people of the Tonzon Community in Gindiri District of Mangu LGA, Worth thousands of Naira received much commendation from the District Head of Gindiri who was ably represented by Malam Gambo Yola, wakilin Hakimin Gindiri.
Gambo gave the recommendation during a Dinner Night that was Organized by the Students after feedback was given by the Practicum coordinator, Mr Nuhu Ishaya.
Gambo on behalf of the District Head appreciated the management of JUTH and the community Health officers who are CHO students for the kind services rendered to their people.
Our correspondent who monitored their activities reported that Gambo said the free medical services rendered by the CHO students are the first of it kind they have ever received and promised to do their best to see that people are mobilized and have good information in all that patterns to some of their health problems.
Ishaya who is also the Team lead, briefly informed the Community Stakeholders about the diseases that are so common like Malaria, Typhoid, Worms, and STIs.
He called on the stakeholders to work together with community organizations, NGOs, Politicians, and the Government. To find solutions to Some of their Health Issues.
Ishaya while appreciating the management of JUTH and the community health officers for the kind services rendered to their people, he confessed that this feedback is the first of its ever.
Stakeholders present during the feedback meeting are Gindiri JUTH Medical Superintendent, the Village Head of Tonzon, Tutors, village heads, and other community leaders and they promised to work together as a team in fighting common diseases.
