Christian Group Leader Kadzai, Lauds Remi Tinubu’s Visit To US Breakfast Prayer

The President of the Coalition of Christian Groups for Good Governance Nigeria and Diaspora (COCGOG), Engr. Daniel Kadzai, has commended Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her participation in the prestigious 74th Annual National Prayer Breakfast held in Washington, D.C., describing the event as a major honor for the nation.

The gathering, attended by global leaders, faith figures, and dignitaries, drew international spotlight when U.S. President Donald Trump personally recognized Senator Tinubu during his address. Trump highlighted her prominent dual roles as Nigeria’s First Lady and a respected Christian pastor.

“We are honored to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at the largest church in Nigeria — a very respected woman… it’s a great honor. Thank you very much,” Trump stated, prompting applause from attendees as he acknowledged her presence.

In response, Kadzai hailed the moment as a significant global endorsement of Nigeria’s values and leadership. He praised Senator Tinubu’s attendance as a powerful testament to her stature as both a national figure and a spiritual leader.

Kadzai described the First Lady as a symbol of unity and religious tolerance in Nigeria, pointing to her long-standing harmonious marriage with President Bola Tinubu, a Muslim, as an inspiring model for peaceful coexistence amid the country’s diverse religious landscape.

He further lauded her as a “pillar that holds Nigeria,” citing her proactive humanitarian efforts, including personal visits to violence-affected states such as Plateau and Benue to offer comfort and support to victims during crises.

Kadzai emphasized that her influence contributes to the inclusive character of the current administration’s policies and appointments.

Amid ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, including concerns over insecurity and reported persecution of Christians, Kadzai called on the U.S. government to sustain and enhance its partnership with Nigeria to address these threats effectively.

The event also comes against the backdrop of heightened U.S. attention to religious freedom issues in Nigeria, with Trump previously expressing concerns about the treatment of Christians and urging stronger action from Nigerian authorities.

In recent months, President Bola Tinubu has implemented significant reforms in the security sector, including reshuffling key military positions and appointing former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, as Minister of Defence to tackle persistent insecurity.

Kadzai’s praise underscores the positive diplomatic and interfaith implications of the First Lady’s engagement on the global stage, positioning it as a bridge for stronger bilateral ties and renewed focus on stability and tolerance in Nigeria.
