The Concerned Christian Youth has sharply condemned Senator Ishaku Abbo following his press conference on Sunday, 6th April 2027, accusing the lawmaker of a pattern of confrontational politics marked by personal attacks on individuals who should be his political mentors and pillars.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday, the group reminded Senator Abbo of his history of public clashes with prominent figures, including the late Chief of Defence Staff, General Alex Badeh, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, all in pursuit of political interests.

The youth body expressed deep concern over what it described as glaring contradictions in the senator’s political stance. While he had strongly opposed President Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket during the 2023 elections, questions are now being raised about his alleged support for a Muslim Senate President.

The group further criticised Abbo’s recent attacks on Engr. Babajir David Lawan, describing the accusations as false, unwarranted, and unjustified.

Particular worry was expressed over Abbo’s attempt to justify the actions of Mr. Nafiu Balla at the expense of Engr. Babajir. The statement questioned the fairness of his professed values, asking whether he was genuinely guided by principles or simply playing politics with religion.

The Concerned Christian Youth also faulted the senator for dragging Engr. Babajir David Lawan into separate issues reportedly raised by Barr. Sadique Dasin.

“Senator Abbo should address and resolve his issues directly with Barr. Dasin instead of pulling the Christian community into a matter we know nothing about,” the statement read. “If such statements were indeed made, what connection do they have with Engr. Babajir?”

The group made its position crystal clear: any attack on Engr. Babajir David Lawan will be viewed as an attack on the Christian community and the broader opposition. It described the engineer as a key stakeholder in Northern Nigeria and the country at large, whose contributions to the Christian community are significant and undeniable.

In unambiguous terms, the Concerned Christian Youth demanded that Senator Ishaku Abbo, as a matter of urgency, tender an unreserved apology to Engr. Babajir David Lawan for the false accusations made against him.

The group also called on him to immediately stop any plans or actions aimed at destabilising the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and to refrain from politics of insults and blackmail, urging him instead to place the collective interest above personal ambition.

“Failure to take these steps will leave us with no option but to respond through lawful and democratic means,” the statement warned. “We remain active across polling units and will exercise our civic rights accordingly.”

The statement was signed by Comrade Briska Banti Sonyamba, Chairman of the Concerned Christian Youth.
