CIPPON President Calls for Improved Power Supply to Printing Hubs

The President of the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON), Koko T. Clement, has appealed to all Distribution Companies (DISCOS) in Nigeria to improve power supply to printing hubs across the country.

In his words, all the Six geo-political zones of the Federation where printing is concentrated faced the same power outages without any solution in sight.

This call to action comes as persistent power failures have severely impacted the printing business in several states, including Kaduna, Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Enugu, Asaba, and most towns where printing hubs are evident.

He emphasized the need for a reliable and constant power supply to enable the printing industry to thrive. He particularly complained about the negative impact it has had on the printing industry and the Book Value Chain.

According to the President, the printing industry in Nigeria faces numerous challenges, including: Frequent power outages and inadequate power supply hinder the printing process, leading to delays and increased costs, the reliance on alternative power sources, such as generators, increases operating costs and reduces profitability and limited access to finance by the printing industry, making it difficult for businesses to invest in new technology and expand their operations.

To address the challenges facing the printing industry, the President called on DISCOS to upgrade and expand existing infrastructure to improve power supply and reduce outages, also introduce efficient billing systems to reduce revenue losses and improve collections.

By working together, Clement believes that the printing industry can overcome the challenges posed by poor power supply and thrive in Nigeria.
