The Old Students Association of GSSS Hong Class of 86 tree planting campaign, held on Saturday, 10 August 2024 at the school premises, was a resounding success.

The event led by the Association Grand Patron, His Lordship Hon. Justice Nathan Musa Retire who is , the Wakili Alkalai Adamawa, witnessed a massive turnout of supporters, environmental enthusiasts, and dignitaries.
The Grand patron of the Association, Justice Nathan Musa applauded the effort of class of 86 for the initiative and urged other classes of the Association to borrow a leaf from them.
According to him, tree planting for greener environment has been part of the tradition of Hong community and appreciated the Association for its effort to sustained it.
He was so impressed with what he saw on ground and donated the sum of two hundred thousand naira (N200,000:00) as his support to the Association and directed it to collaborate with EMNAMU foundation in it’s operations to do the needful for their Alma mater.
EMNAMU foundation in it’s readiness to partner with the Association donated the sum of three hundred thousand naira (N300,000:00) to support it.
The Board of Trustees Chairman, Engr. Tanko Ibrahim Basani and members of the GSSS Hong Old students Association Class of 86 were present to witness the ground breaking ceremony, demonstrating their unwavering support for the initiative.
The campaign aimed at promoting environmental awareness, community development, and sustainability.
The event saw the planting of 70 trees, symbolizing the class of ’86 active members’ commitment to giving back to the community and the environment.
The President of the Association, Engr. Linus A. Agwanda represented by its Secretary General Mal. Ibrahim Abdu advised against indiscriminate spray of herbicide which would affect the tree seedlings during budding as some of the tree seedlings are on farm plots.
In his good will messag , the chairman thanked Wakili Alkalai Adamawa for his inspiring donation and encouragement.
