A coalition of teachers from the Southern Senatorial Zone of Adamawa State has endorsed Comrade Captain Jidauna, former ALGON Chairman of NUT, as their preferred candidate for the position of Chairman in the upcoming Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) election.
The teachers, representing nine local government areas, cited marginalization and the need for representation as reasons for their endorsement. They highlighted that Adamawa Central has produced leaders for 39 out of 52 years, while Adamawa South has only led for 2 months.
Some individuals are hijacking the NUT election, with one aspirant claiming to be the anointed candidate of the Secretary to the State Government and NUT National Secretariat
The coalition alleged that some individuals are hijacking the NUT election, with one aspirant claiming to be the anointed candidate of the Secretary to the State Government and NUT National Secretariat. They accused this aspirant of intimidation, threat, and calumny, and called on the National President, Comrade Audu Amba, to intervene and ensure a level playing ground for all contestants.
The NUT election is scheduled for October 29, 2024. The coalition urged all respected branch chairmen to stand against the desperate quest to loot the union and divide members based on sentiments and ethno-religious politics.
