Construct Dams to avert floods, Zamfara Monarch urges Governments

The Emir of Gumi in Zamfara State, Justice Lawal Hassan has appealed to the state to construct earth dams in the area to solve the problem of raveging annual flood.

Receiving Deputy Governor, Malam Mani Mummuni in his palace, Hassan said the flood was as a result of overflowing of the nearby River causing serious havoc to be inhabitants.

“Zamfara government should consider the buildibg of earth dam in the area in order reduce overflow of water to the residents areas”, he said.

He said the victims are in serious need of urgent assistance from government at all levels.

Expressed shock over the incidence, describing it as worrisome.

In his speech, the state deputy governor, Mani Malan Mummuni expressed shock over the incidence, describing it as worrisome.

He pledged state government commitment to assist the victims.

“This is very unfortunate the this disaster displaced our people rendering them home less”, he added.

According to him, he was mandated by Governor Dauda Lawal to come and make on the spot assessment and the level of damages caused by the disaster..

The deputy governor appealed to the victims to remain calm and consider the disaster as a test from God as he visited affected areas of Gumi, Gayari and Falale.
