Abdurasheed Bawa, the EFFC Chairman, declared on Monday that he had appealed the FCT High Court’s contempt of court ruling against him.

Remember that the FCT High Court’s Justice Chizoba Oji ruled that Bawa had disregarded a court order issued on November 21, 2018, ordering the commission to give a candidate a Range Rover and N40 million in cash back.

Bawa should be committed to the Kuje Correctional Center in Abuja, according to the court, which deemed his actions to constitute intentional defiance.

Bawa, however, responded in response to a query from the media during the 2023 budget defense with the House of Representatives Committee on Anti-Corruption, stating that he has filed an appeal and that the legislation should be allowed to take its natural course.

“Well, we have appealed against it, so we allow the natural course of law to take its effect”, he said.

Bawa urged the committee to give the EFCC more money in its budget so that it can fight corruption more successfully.

In order to effectively train and retrain workers, he underlined the need to finish the school.
