Adamawa State commissioner of police, Sikiru Kayode Akande has revealed that despite the success of the police in reducing crime in the state, culpable homicide and domestic violence is on the increase.
The commissioner of police made the revelation while parading 31 suspects including shilla boys and others accused of culpable homicide domestic violence, rape and pushers of hard drugs.
The commissioner noted that due to the alertness and proactive measures adopted by police in the state criminality has substantially reduced leading to increase in business and commercial activities.
He said the police will commence statewide outreach program from tomorrow to sensitize the populace in order to nip in the bud the rising domestic violence and culpable homicide.
According to the commissioner of police, some items recovered from the suspects include Toyota starlet, 5 locally made single barrel guns, 8 handsets, 3 matchets, 1 laptop, Tiger Generator, a dagger, 2 live cartridges, MP3, torchlight and hard drugs.
Akande, said the command has embarked on a tactical and intelligence driven dusk to down raid of criminal hideouts adding that it is making the environment toxic for hardened criminals.
According to him, the the tremendous achievements were recorded during the week under review and vowed not to relent in combating crime in the society.
On the menace of “shila” boys, he disclosed that the command will do everything possible to know who started “shila” activities and who are currently behind them so as to address to menace from its roots.
