Crisis broke out on Saturday at the state congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held in Jalingo, Taraba, The News Agency of Nigeria reports.

NAN reports that the crisis erupted when the State Congress Electoral Committee Chairman, Mr Clement Mue, named two consensus chairmen. Protests began as members insisted on Dr Victor Falack as the authentic chairman of the PDP in Taraba.
Mr Mue had earlier announced Falack as the consensus chairman of the party and was affirmed by members before another member of the committee from Abuja interrupted and announced Alhaji Ibrahim Sale as chairman of the party.
The drama, which led to chaos, as party members stormed out of the venue protesting the sudden change from Falack to Sale, who was described as unknown to PDP members.
It took the efforts of both the police and other security agencies to escort the chairman of the congress committee out of the venue.
