CVR: Fresh registration hits 10.4m as INEC shuts portal

Independent National Electoral Commission, on Monday, shut down the online portal for the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

As of Monday, the registration portal, https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/home/index was no longer responding.

A notice on the website reads: “The CVR Exercise has been suspended. Access to log-in to check the status of your completed applications will soon be restored.”

INEC had fixed the deadline for the exercise for July 31, 2022, after an extension of the first deadline of June 30.

The electoral body’s last update on the registration exercise on Monday, July 25, indicated 11 million Nigerians have so far registered.

A further breakdown showed that 10,487,972 new registration were recorded with 3,391,940 registering via online and 7,619,179 through physical registration.

The update also revealed INEC had received a total of 28,453, 255 applications, including applications for voter transfer, requests for replacement of Permanent Voter Cards.
