Dangote Sugar Refinery (DSR) Numan Operations has pledged to strengthen partnerships with its host communities through regular quarterly stakeholders’ meetings, emphasizing that open dialogue will foster mutual understanding and drive shared prosperity.
The commitment was highlighted during the latest quarterly engagement between the company’s management and representatives from traditional leaders, youths, and women across the five host local government areas: Demsa, Numan, Lamurde, Shelleng, and Guyuk.
Alhaji Bello Dan Musa, Group General Manager for Stakeholders Engagement, commended the traditional leaders for their pivotal role in maintaining industrial harmony.
“Coming together to discuss will enable us to understand each other for the betterment of the company and the communities,” he stated.
Under the leadership of Chairman Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the refinery remains dedicated to its corporate social responsibilities, Dan Musa affirmed.
He pointed to ongoing initiatives, including the allocation of over 160 hectares of land to local community members via the Outgrower Scheme, designed to empower smallholder farmers and boost participation in sugar production.
Looking ahead, the company plans to expand the scheme to include more beneficiaries. Additionally, 50 women have received startup capital for small-scale businesses, while several youths have secured employment within the refinery. Future plans include livelihood support for elderly citizens.
Dan Musa reiterated that, with the cooperation of traditional leaders, DSR Numan will continue interventions in health, education, scholarship programs, and rural feeder roads.
The meeting provided a platform for community representatives to offer input on future collaborations.
Speaking to journalists afterward, Dr. Agoso Bamaiyi, District Head of Gyawana, along with youth and women representatives, expressed gratitude for the refinery’s contributions to local economic development.
They pledged to educate their communities on the value of this partnership and assured continued support for peaceful coexistence.
