There are indications that presidential aspirants on the platform of ruling All Progressives Congress from the South-West failed to produce a consensus candidate in their meeting in Lagos on Friday, First News has gathered.

Meanwhile, leaders of the party from the region have also cautioned presidential aspirants from the zone to guard against their utterances.

Specifically, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo could not step down for each other, it was gathered.

The meeting, which was held behind closed doors at the Lagos House, Marina, similarly resolved that name calling and allied attacks by aspirants and their supporters should stop.

The aspirants were charged to work with whoever among them emerge as the party’s candidate for the presidential election.

Still to information gathered from sources, the leaders also urged the aspirants to do all within their powers to ensure that the South-West does not fail to produce the President cone next year.

“The issue of betrayal was put to rest as the elders affirmed that everyone who desired to run for any political office whatsoever was not encumbered in any way at all,” the source said.

In the end, the aspirants failed to arrive at a consensus candidate, a top source informed.
